G2, BBB, and HolidayCheck join Coalition for Trusted Reviews to champion review integrity

The global cross-industry Coalition for Trusted Reviews has today announced three new members: G2, the world’s largest and most trusted software marketplace, Better Business Bureau (BBB), a non-profit committed to advancing marketplace trust, and HolidayCheck, a travel review and booking platform.

The new members signal the Coalition’s growing momentum, strengthening sectoral and worldwide expertise in safeguarding and promoting trustworthy consumer reviews. The group was the first organisation to publish best practices for trustworthy review content and hosts its fourth annual conference in New York on 15th October.

Becky Foley, Executive Committee member of Coalition for Trusted Reviews and Head of Trust & Safety at TripAdvisor said:

“We are pleased to welcome G2, BBB, and HolidayCheck as the latest members of the Coalition. With three new members joining, the Coalition continues to build momentum and extend its global impact – reinforcing its cross-sectoral expertise and commitment to uphold consumer trust in reviews across the entire online ecosystem.”

Marty Duffy, G2’s SVP, Product R&D Ops, said:

“At G2, we take authenticity seriously, working to ensure every review on g2.com is the honest opinion of a real user and their own unique experience with a product or service. We’re excited to be joining the Coalition and its work to help set and uphold the highest standards of review integrity.  We’ll be bringing tech-focused expertise to help advance best practices across the industry.”

Christy Page, the International Association of Better Business Bureaus’ Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, said:

“Our mission is to help consumers identify trustworthy businesses, and reviews are an essential part of that process. By joining the Coalition, we can share our local market expertise and strengthen global efforts to protect the integrity of online reviews”

David Mertin, HolidayCheck’s Vice President Traffic, said:

“At HolidayCheck, genuine reviews have always been at the core of what we do. We invest heavily in both technology and expert teams to detect and prevent fake content, ensuring travelers can rely on authentic experiences when planning their holidays. By joining the Coalition for Trusted Reviews, we reaffirm our long-standing regional commitment to the fight against fake reviews and now strengthen global efforts to protect trust and integrity across the review industry worldwide.”

As members of the Coalition for Trusted Reviews, G2, BBB, and HolidayCheck will contribute to the Coalition’s ongoing initiatives to promote trust in online reviews, by sharing bad actor intelligence and engaging in advocacy efforts across jurisdictions.

G2 focuses on authentic peer reviews for business software and helps 100 million people each year — including employees at all Fortune 500 companies — make smarter technology decisions. Thousands of software and services companies of all sizes partner with G2 to build their reputation and grow their business, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoom, and Adobe.

BBB serves communities across the U.S. and Canada, building trust between consumers and businesses. BBB offers free, neutral information on more than 5.5 million businesses, and accredits organisations that meet its standards for honesty, integrity, and fairness.

HolidayCheck is a Swiss-based travel review and booking portal, with an extensive hotel review database. For 25 years, it has been one of HolidayCheck’s main goals to operate the strictest review verification process in the regional travel industry. By fighting fake reviews with human and artificial intelligence, and with the help of the law, HolidayCheck ensures that genuine reviews are published for their clients in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. By doing that, HolidayCheck became the leading hotel review platform in the German-speaking market - and continues to be today. The database spans over 12 million reviews and 15 million user photos, enabling customers to make well-informed choices.

The Coalition aims to promote best practices across industry for upholding the authenticity of reviews and instilling consumer confidence in the online review ecosystem. The Coalition’s annual conference serves as its flagship event, bringing together leading review platforms, tech firms, consumer stakeholders, policy makers, regulators and academics. This year’s conference will take place at the Park Central Hotel in New York City on October 15.
