A tremendous amount of trust is placed on the insights from these reviews that reflect the customer’s actual experience” said Rebecca Mond, Head of External Relations, Customer Trust and Abuse Prevention at Amazon. “We are committed to protecting this trust and safeguarding the integrity of reviews in our store. And we are equally excited to engage in cross-industry collaboration, such as this coalition, to maintain trust and safety throughout the reviews space.”
“With more than 358 million verified reviews from real guests on our platform, we are actively invested in ensuring the ongoing credibility of our program, both for travelers and our partners,” said Pascal Mafait , Senior Director Fraud and Trust & Safety at Booking.com. “From machine learning fraud detection models to custom-made tooling for our teams of experienced moderators, we are continuously enhancing our efforts, including through collaborating with this coalition of like minded platforms. “Authentic reviews are crucial for travelers when booking accommodations, destinations, and experiences, said CJ Allen, Vice President, Marketplace Experience & Trust, Expedia Group. We use technology not only to detect fraudulent postings but also to implement a human touch, further validating the honesty and transparency of reviews. Expedia Group takes pride in participating in this coalition to combat these fake actors, who pose a direct threat to our industry's most valuable asset: trust.”
“The trust that consumers and partners have in our platforms and businesses is a top priority for the members of this coalition, all of whom agreed to join together to fight fake review content on the Internet. To further maintain the credibility and authenticity of reviews on our platforms, we aim to make it increasingly difficult for fraudulent actors who try to deceive our customers to operate online,” said Becky Foley, Vice President, Trust & Safety, Tripadvisor, Inc. “Combating these operators, particularly those attempting to sell fake reviews to companies looking to improve their online reputations, will be an immediate area of focus. These actors often operate outside of jurisdictions with a legal framework to shut down fraudulent activity, making robust cooperation even more important.”
“Trust in reviews is more important now than ever before - consumers need to be confident the reviews they read are genuine, and businesses need to know the reviews being written about them are authentic and based on real experiences,” said Anoop Joshi, Chief Trust Officer at Trustpilot. “We’re constantly searching for different and innovative ways to tackle fake reviews, and the Coalition for Trusted Reviews will undoubtedly boost the fight against deception through greater sharing of information across the reviews industry and collaboration. By standing together we can make a difference by combating those who seek to undermine trust online and ensure the benefits of reviews are felt by all.”
“Authentic reviews are at the heart of HolidayCheck - they empower travellers to make informed decisions based on real experiences. With more than 12 million reviews and 15 million customer photos, HolidayCheck is a leading hotel review platform in the German-speaking travel market.
For many years, we have actively driven high standards of review integrity - not only within the travel sector but beyond - ensuring that reviews are authentic, trustworthy and transparent, while at the same time safeguarding freedom of expression online. This commitment helps customers book their holidays with confidence and protects trust in digital review ecosystems.” - said David Mertin, Vice President Traffic at HolidayCheck.
“As a member of the Coalition for Trusted Reviews, we are proud to contribute our expertise and collaborate across borders and industries to further strengthen trust in online reviews.”
